Edward Herrmann
Edward Kirk "Ed" Herrmann (born July 21, 1943 in Washington, DC , † December 31, 2014 in New York City ) was an American actor .
life and career
Edward Herrmann graduated from Bucknell University in 1965 and studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art .
Over the course of his long career, the automotive fan and Tony Award winner became a prominent and well-known face on American television, most notably through his portrayal of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the television films Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and Eleanor and Franklin : The White House Years (1977), as well as guest roles in numerous series.
In the television series Gilmore Girls , Herrmann played the typical role of the aging patriarch Richard Gilmore in all seven seasons . After the end of the series in 2007 he played the role of probably the oldest assistant doctor Norman in the hit series Grey's Anatomy in some episodes . From 2010 to 2013 he appeared on the series Good Wife . His work includes more than 130 film and television productions. His last work was published posthumously in 2015 and 2016.
Herrmann also became very well known in the United States for his work as a speaker for numerous documentaries for the History Channel and the PBS specials. Even the commercials for the car manufacturer Dodge were inconceivable for decades without Herrmann's voice.
Herrmann died on December 31, 2014 in Manhattan at the age of 71 of complications from a brain tumor .
