action

Ella von Frell lives in a fairy tale land, where as a child she received a special gift, that of obedience, from Fee Lucinda. After her mother's death and her father's marriage, she has a wicked stepmother and two wicked step-sisters who belong to Prince Char's fan club. When her step-sisters notice her gift, Ella realizes that her gift can also be a curse that she wants to get rid of. So she sets out to find Lucinda so that she can release her from her gift, and by the way finds the man of her life, Prince Charmont, whom she actually doesn't like. His uncle Sir Edgar has been King since the brutal murder of his father by an ogre gang . Under his rule, the ogres are ostracized as common ogres, the giants are enslaved and the elves are not allowed to do anything but sing and dance. After Char Ella saves her life twice, they slowly find each other. When his uncle learns that Char is about to propose to Ella, he orders Ella to stab his nephew. He has already got rid of someone and blamed it on someone else: in the murder of his brother, the former king! But Ella can conquer her gift with love for Prince Charmont. Nevertheless, she is locked up. When she finds out that Sir Edgar poisoned the crown for its coronation, she breaks out with the help of elf, giant and ogre friends and bursts into the coronation. Char, who until then thought Ella wanted to kill him, tells her the truth about his uncle and he confesses everything. He says that he is the only real king and puts on the crown. But he forgets that it was poisoned and falls over. Ella and Char then marry and live happily ever after.

Reviews

"The modernized new edition of the Cinderella fairy tale spices up the story with all sorts of anachronisms and entertains solidly on a manageable fantasy level."

"Colorful and effective: Despite the rather naive tricks, this humorous, charming 'Cinderella' variant with weird gags is pleasing. Recommended to all romantics and magic fans who are enthusiastic about 'Shrek' or 'Harry Potter'. "

"Ella" offers the best entertainment for fans of light fare as well as for all those who are not too good to look for substance in a children's film. "

“Not every idea may be a hit, and you will look in vain for a uniform tone. Younger girls who liked ' Suddenly Princess ' or ' Freaky Friday ' as well as ' Harry Potter ' will still be impressed by the bold story, especially since Anne Hathaway - accompanied by well-known but not overly busy actors […] - over the full runtime cuts a great figure.
