FFA Cup 2014

The FFA Cup 2015 was the second edition of the FFA Cup , the national Australian football cup competition for men. A total of 635 soccer teams took part in the competition. 32 teams reached the first main round, including the ten clubs of the 2014/15 A-League , the champions of the National Premier Leagues 2014 and 21 lower-class clubs that prevailed in the regional qualifying rounds. Defending champions Adelaide United were eliminated in the quarterfinals against eventual winners Melbourne Victory .

The cup winner was Melbourne Victory for the first time, defeating Perth Glory 2-0 in the final .

Qualifying rounds

Several hundred teams competed in the various regional preliminary rounds to qualify for one of 21 main round places to be awarded. The ten teams of the A-League ( Adelaide United , Brisbane Roar , Central Coast Mariners , Melbourne City FC , Melbourne Victory , Newcastle United Jets , Perth Glory , Sydney FC , Wellington Phoenix , Western Sydney Wanderers ) were set for the main round. In addition, the champion of the National Premier Leagues 2014 ( North Eastern MetroStars ) will receive a starting place. All nine regional associations of the Australian Football Association hold qualifying rounds, including teams from the Northern Territory for the first time . The number of player registrations was used to distribute the qualification places per regional association, which led to the following distribution:
