The FK Volgar Astrakhan ( Russian Футбольный Клуб Волгарь Астрахань , Futbolny Klub Volgar Astrakhan ) is a Russian football club from the southern Russian city of Astrakhan on the Volga , which is anchored in the club's name . It was founded in 1925 and plays in the third class Perwenstwo PFL . The club colors are blue and white.

history

Soviet Union

The club was founded in 1925, making it one of the oldest football clubs in Russia. The club played in a professional championship for the first time in 1946. At that time as Pishchevik , the club first appeared in the third and from 1948 in the second group of the Soviet football championship . In the 1950s they no longer played on the Soviet level, but only in the championship of the Russian SFSR . In the 1958 season, the team played again in the Soviet championships, at the same time the name of the club was changed to Trud for two years . From 1960 to 1967 the club was able to establish itself in class B of the Soviet championships under the new name of Volgar . From 1968 to 1971 the club even played in class A (or 1971 first division ). There the club only reached the penultimate place and rose to the second division (equivalent to the third division). There the team played mostly in the third zone until 1991. The club took part in the Football Cup of the Soviet Union 14 times. He was most successful in 1970, 1971 and 1990/91, when the 1/32 finals could be reached.

Russia

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the establishment of the Russian Football Association , the club played in the second division for the first two years in 1992 and 1993 . There the team could not hold up and was relegated to the 3rd division , where, however, the immediate promotion was successful. From 1995 to 1998 the team played under the name Volgar-Gazprom in the second division in different zones. In the 1998 season Volgar-Gazprom won the championship of the "South" season and rose to the 1st division . From 1999 to 2006, the team played in the 1st division, with the exception of 2004, when they were relegated to the "South" season of the 2nd division. Although the team ended the 2006 season in 11th place in the table, but the club got into financial difficulties and had to be relegated. The second team of the Volgar-Gazprom-2 club continued to play in the amateur field in 2007 and the club immediately rose to the 2nd division under this name and again in the following year, so that the club played in the 1st division again since 2009. For the 2010 season , the team was renamed, it was again called Volgar-Gazprom Astrakhan . In the 2012/13 season, the team got the old name Wolgar and was relegated to the third-class Perwenstwo PFL , but in 2014, after winning the relay championship South , they managed to return to the second-class Perwenstwo FNL . At the end of the 2015/16 season , the club reached a relegation place for promotion to the Premjer League , but was defeated by Anzhi Makhachkala and thus remained in second class. After the 2017/18 season, the club withdrew to the third division for financial reasons.
