history

Falkenhagen was first mentioned in documents as Valkenhaghen in 1320 (until 1325) . It was Bolto de Zlawestorp from the place, who as a vassal of the Rügen prince Wizlaw III. in its list. Zlawestorp (also Slawestorp) is known from other documents for various locations in the current municipality of Sundhagen as the owner and later seller to the city of Greifswald.

Already in the Swedish matriculation cards from 1696 Falkenhagen is listed with a large compact estate, a post windmill and a water mill on the estate as well as the village further to the east with the farm workers' cottages.

1835 is according to Prussia. Urmes table sheet (PUM) again shows the compact good with a water mill, but without the windmill. A relatively large park of 18.5 ha was connected to the north. The village consists of 5 farm workers' cottages, each 115 meters apart, on one side of the road. Behind this row of cattle there was a Dutch farm at the eastern end of the park, which is how a separate cattle husbandry was called. The so-called “Falkenhagener Strandkathe”, probably a fisherman's house, was located on the banks of the Sund.

In 1871 Falkenhagen had 11 houses with 25 households and 119 inhabitants, in 1867 there were 136. All were members of the Protestant denomination.

In 1880, according to the measurement table (MTB), the structure remained as it was, only the water mill disappeared. The park was reduced in size in favor of agricultural areas. The village with its 5 cottages remained, but a small group of sheds was built opposite. The fisherman's hut on the beach was also removed, but a beacon was set up there as a sea mark for the entrance to the Sund. The biggest change was experienced by the Dutch factory, this farm was rebuilt in a U-shape open to the north and called the "Lease Farm". That did not change in the MTB in 1920, only the name of the lease was supplemented with the word Gut.

After the land reform of 1945, the estate and leasehold were expropriated and new farmers' settlements arose near the village and leasehold (estate). The estate was preserved except for two farm buildings, the leasehold was later built over with an LPG site. The estate park was further reduced.

Falkenhagen belonged to the community of Reinberg . This merged on June 7th, 2009 with the communities Behnkendorf , Brandshagen , Horst , Kirchdorf , Miltzow and Wilmshagen to form the new community Sundhagen.
