Morlockk Dilemma (born September 11, 1981 in Leipzig ; bourgeois Falko Luniak ) is a German rapper and producer who most recently published his works on the Berlin independent label Spoken View .

biography

Growing up in the Leipzig district of Grünau , Morlockk Dilemma came into contact with graffiti at an early age . In 1997, after moving to another location, he first got involved with rap . In the following years he wrote his first texts until Morlockk Dilemma finally joined the crew NahOstK (NOK) from Leipzig in 2000 , to which he still belongs today. He and his crew sold the first tapes (music cassettes) at that time , but initially without distribution. In 2003, he released his first solo tape FPS .

Morlockk Dilemma released his album Index Finest in 2006 through the later founded independent label Snuffpro , which Morlockk Dilemma achieved for the first time throughout Germany. The Juice Index named Finest "Demo of the Month". In early 2006, Morlockk Dilemma began to work on a joint album with the rapper V-Mann, who is now called Job . In 2007 the collaboration album Hang zur Dramatik was released on the Snuffpro label (meanwhile a re-release has appeared on Spoken View ). Together with his crew members choleric and Desert D took dilemma in the same year at the Battle event fire over Germany 2 part.

In 2008 Dilemma's second solo album Omnipotenz was released in D minor on the Snuffpro label. In addition, Morlockk Dilemma took part for the first time in the hip-hop and reggae festival Splash and in the third edition of Feuer über Deutschland. In the same year the mixtape The Shining Path appeared , which Snuffpro made available for download free of charge.

After the Snuffpro label announced the end of music distribution in the spring of 2009, the second collab album Apocalypse Now was released on the independent label Spoken View. Neither Job nor Morlockk Dilemma are contractually bound to the label. Juice magazine named Apokalypse Jetzt as the second best German-language rap album in 2009.

In June 2009, Morlockk Dilemma took part in the Splash again, but for Job it was the first appearance at the Splash Festival. Dilemma has been moderating the biweekly radio show Bodega on ByteFM since October 22nd .

On May 1st, 2010 the mixtape Der eiserne Besen was published, which was named Mixtape of the Month by Juice .

Morlockk Dilemma released his third solo album Circus Maximus on February 28, 2011 . There was a copyright problem beforehand, as the cover contained parts of the illustration of the cover by Amar Pra Viver ou Morrer de Amor (1982) by the Brazilian artist Erasmo Carlos . The cover artwork was changed a few days later.

On the 2013 album Der Wolf im Schafspelz by DCVDNS he was featured as a feature guest in the song Wir reiten ein.

On February 28, 2014 Morlockk Dilemma released the collab album Capitalism Now with Job.

On the album Music is not a solution by rapper Alligatoah, he worked on the song That means war .

On February 13, 2017 Morlockk Dilemma released the double EP Hexenkessel together with the music producer Brenk Sinatra . The album Herzbube was released on August 2, 2019 .

Since New Year's Eve 2019 he has been running an irregular podcast called "Kamingeflüster" on his YouTube channel.

Surname

The name Morlockk refers to the underground race of people in the novel The Time Machine and is intended to allude metaphorically to the underground rap. The rapper justifies the middle name Dilemma with the fact that it represents a dilemma for other rappers. On the other hand, there were also dilemmas in his life in which two choices had to be made.

style

The powerful rapeseed dilemmas, which usually do not contain any breaks, are particularly striking. In addition, Dilemma has its own vocal color, intonation and pronunciation, which often makes it difficult for new listeners to correctly understand the texts in their entirety without aids. Most of the texts can be assigned to punchline or battle rap . Some song dilemmas also contain elements of storytelling .

Morlockk Dilemma is not only active as a rapper, but also produces many of his own beats. A large part of the music on the album "Circus Maximus", for example, comes from him. The style of his beats is as dark as the rap style. The beats used have often been compared with those of the Wu-Tang clan . The comparison is mainly based on the use of samples and drum loops, which are cut up and reassembled. In contrast to the producer RZA from the Wu-Tang clan, Morlockk Dilemma does not use funk and soul for his beats, but rather samples obscure film or library music. The music that Morlockk Dilemma samples comes from the time between 1965 and 1985, he says. Since 2011 he has been publishing his productions under the pseudonym Morlockko Plus . Three EP's and four "instrumental radio plays" have been released under this name.

In 2014 Hiob and Morlockk Dilemma founded the label MOFO Airlines , under which so far only releases were released in which at least one of the two was also involved as a rapper.
