Filip Chytil (* 5. September 1999 in Kroměříž ) is a Czech ice hockey player who, since July 2017 the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League on the position of the center plays.

Career

Chytil went through the youth department of HC Zlín , through whose U18 team he made the jump into the squad of the professional team in the extra league in 2016/17 . The 18-year-old was able to assert himself there straight away and was finally selected after the season in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 21st player by the New York Rangers from the National Hockey League . The Czech was signed by the Rangers just a few weeks after the draft, completed the pre-season session in North America and was on the ice for the first time in the NHL at the start of the season. The Rangers sent the striker after two missions but in the American Hockey League to their farm team Hartford Wolf Pack . There he spent the season until the end of March before he was reappointed to the Rangers squad.

Chytil spent the 2018/19 season exclusively in New York and recorded 23 scorer points in 75 games in his first full NHL season.

International

For his home country, Chytil was on the ice in the junior division at numerous international tournaments. The striker made his first appearance at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2015 , in which the Czech Republic took seventh place. At the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2016 a few months later, with three goals, he was instrumental in winning the tournament for the first time. He also played at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2017 , but without making it into the medal ranks. At the U20 Junior World Championship 2018 , the attacker and the team took fourth place.

Chytil made his debut for the Czech national team as part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2017/18 . This was followed by participation in the 2018 World Cup in Denmark .
