Ryan Lindgren (born February 11, 1998 in Burnsville , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL) since March 2018 and for their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack , in the American Hockey League (AHL) on the position of defender is used. His older brother Charlie Lindgren is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Lindgren was born in Burnsville , Minnesota, USA . Lindgren's career began in the 2011/12 season on the Shattuck St. Mary’s high school ice hockey team . He achieved 172 scorer points in a total of 180 missions . For the 2014/15 season, the American joined the National Team Development Program of the US ice hockey association USA Hockey . He spent most of the season with the team in the United States Hockey League (USHL). There he reached 25 scorer points in 60 missions.

In the 2016 NHL Entry Draft , Lindgren was selected in the second round in 49th position by the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). At the same time, Lindgren began studying at the University of Minnesota and ran for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). There the defender achieved 16 scorer points in 67 games.

In October 2018, Lindgren was given a first-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2018 , the players Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey and a seventh-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2019 in exchange for Rick Nash to the New York Rangers . Lindgren signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers in March 2018 . They used him for the time being with their farm team Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League (AHL). After half a season of regular AHL service, he finally made his debut for the New York Rangers in the NHL in January 2019, which was followed by four more games by the end of the season. He finished the AHL game year with twelve points in 65 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack. At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Lindgren established himself in the New York Rangers' NHL squad and has been there regularly since then.

International

In the junior division, Lindegren took part in the 2015 World U-17 Hockey Challenge for the USA , where the team won the silver medal. At the U18 Junior World Championship in 2016 , he won the bronze medal with the national team. At the U20 Junior World Championships in 2017 and 2018 , he succeeded in winning the gold and bronze medals.
