Fermo (in ancient Firmum ) is an Italian commune with 36,988 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of the same name, Marche region .

In 2004 the province of Fermo was formed from the northern part of the province of Ascoli Piceno with Fermo as the capital.

The city has a cathedral that is the seat of the Archdiocese of Fermo .

The Torre di Palme parliamentary group is a member of the I borghi più belli d'Italia association (“The most beautiful places in Italy”).
