The airfield Bad Gandersheim is a German airfield in the south of the city of Bad Gandersheim , in the district of Northeim in southern Lower Saxony . The site is on a hill, the cooler , above the city. It is located directly on the B 64 and B 445 . The operator is the "Flugplatz Bad Gandersheim eV", which is made up of the associations based on the airfield.

The airfield has a 725 m long grass runway for motorized aircraft and aircraft towing .

history

On May 16, 1960, the founding members met in the "Alten Fritz" in Seesen and founded the first motorized aviation club based in Bad Gandersheim . The initially loose cohesion of interested parties, e.g. T. former war pilots, got a fixed framework. Karl Jahns became chairman and Robert Urban deputy chairman. On June 18, 1961, the 12th powered airfield was finally opened in Lower Saxony . As early as 1957, the first powered airplane , piloted by Karl Jahns, landed on the radiator. In hundreds of hours of work, the former arable land was turned into a level runway and an aircraft hangar was built. In 1989 a gas station was added. In the winter of 1995, the five-year conversion of the flight control building into a flight control, training and restaurant building began. On June 7, 1997 the airfield became the final destination of the Germany flight . On July 25th, 2009 the German Motor Aerobatic Championships took place in Bad Gandersheim .

Flight operations

The flight operations are organized by the local associations . During the operating hours , the flight control is manned by a volunteer flight controller .

Operating times

The square is open between April 1st and October 31st on weekends and public holidays. The operating times are Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Admission

The airfield is approved for gliders , motor gliders , ultralight aircraft , powered aircraft up to 2000 kg, helicopters up to 5700 kg, manned free balloons , parachute jumping and model airplanes .

societies

The airfield is home to four clubs that have come together to form the Bad Gandersheim eV airfield . These include two glider clubs, the Bad Gandersheim eV air sports club and the LSV “Thermik” Alfeld eV air sports club, as well as the SFC Gandersheim-Seesen eV sports flying club and the Bad Gandersheim MFC.

Flight school

Both the glider clubs and the sports aviation club operate their own flight schools , in which the license to drive aircraft, i. H. the “GPL” glider license and the private pilot's license for piloting single-engine powered aircraft with piston engines and a maximum take-off weight of up to 2000 kg, “ PPL-A ”, can be acquired. All flight instructors work on a voluntary basis .

Infrastructure

In addition to the flight control, training and restaurant building already mentioned, the airfield has seven hangars to accommodate the aircraft . AvGas 100 LL can be refueled at the airport filling station.
