Francisco José Ventoso Alberdi (born May 6, 1982 in Reinosa ) is a Spanish cyclist . He is considered a specialist in the Flemish and Northern French classics .

Athletic career

In 2004 Ventoso signed his first contract with Saunier Duval-Prodir . In his first year as a professional cyclist , he managed to win a stage of the Tour of Qatar and the USPRO Championship , the race for the US championship. In the following years he won several stages in smaller races, but also in the big round trips, such as the Giro d'Italia 2011 , the Giro d'Italia 2012 and the Vuelta a España 2006 . In 2012 he became the Spanish road racing champion.

After Ventoso then had no racing success for four years, he switched to the BMC Racing Team for the 2017 season to support team captain Greg Van Avermaet . "Radsport-101926"

In May 2008, Ventoso tested positive for furosemide and was banned for nine months.
