Friedrich Wilhelm Christian von Zastrow (* December 22, 1752 in Neuruppin ; † July 22, 1830 at Bied Castle near Colombier on Lake Neuchâtel ) was Prussian infantry general and minister of state in the Foreign Office .

Friedrich Wilhelm Christian von Zastrow came from the Zastrow family , he was a son of Christian Wilhelm von Zastrow (* December 3, 1714 - June 30, 1758), major and commander of the regiment Prince Ferdinand and Christiane Auguste von Boden (* 1721; † February 17, 1776), daughter of the Prussian Finance Minister August Friedrich von Boden (1682–1762).

His brother was General August Friedrich Wilhelm Franz von Zastrow . His sister Frederike Wilhelmine Luise Sophie (* November 28, 1754; † July 17, 1815) was married to the Prussian general Johann Adolph von Lützow (1748-1819). General Ludwig Adolf Wilhelm von Lützow was his nephew.

Life

Zastrow's career began in 1766 with entry into the Cuirassier no. 11, however, he was still the same year for Infantry Regiment Graf Lottum of Berlin added, and in this 1768 to Ensign , 1774 to second lieutenant promoted.

During the Bavarian Succession War Zastrow was adjutant of the v General. Ramin , after the peace agreement he stayed with him as an adjutant for the Berlin inspection. Then Zastrow accompanied the king to Poland, where he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in recognition of his contribution after defeating the Kościuszko uprising . In 1794 he became adjutant general, in 1796 colonel and in 1801 major general .

In the spring of 1806, Zastrow was in charge of the South Prussian inspection, but was again called to the royal headquarters in autumn, where he also stayed during the battle of Jena and Auerstedt . He was then commissioned together with Count Girolamo Lucchesini , Minister of State , to negotiate peace with Napoleon . In December Zastrow took over the post of the resigned Count Haugwitz in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 1807 he was appointed secret minister of state and cabinet and head of the foreign department. In the same year he was promoted to lieutenant general and at the same time he was given command of the infantry in the Corps des General von L'Estocq . However, Zastrow did not accept this position, but asked for a dismissal, which was granted to him.

Around 1813 he asked to be returned to service and was given command of the Landwehr in Silesia , but immediately switched to the post of military governor between the Vistula and the Russian border, where he remained until the summer of 1814.

From 1817 to 1824 he was the Prussian ambassador to Bavaria .

In 1824 Zastrow became general of the infantry and as such represented Prussia at the coronation of King Charles X of France in 1825 .

He was also Amtshauptmann to Barten , also Lord on Baudach in Krosno , Lagow in the district Oststernberg , German Press (Stara Przysieka) in the county costs and Wielichowo in the district Schmiegel .

Zastrow was also a knight of the order Pour le Mérite (1778), the order of the Black Eagle (1823) and the Bavarian Order of Hubert .

Friedrich Wilhelm Christian von Zastrow died at Bied Castle near Colombier on Lake Neuchâtel, where he was also governor of the principalities of Neuchatel and Valengin .

He was married to Louise Freiin von Langenthal for the first time since 1781 . After the divorce of this first marriage in 1784, he entered into a second marriage in 1787 with Friederike Dorothea Lüdemann (1767-1840). Both marriages resulted in a total of 14 children, including:
