George Lorenz von Pirch

George Lorenz von Pirch (born March 5, 1730 in Klein Nossin , † October 18, 1797 in Krzanowitz in the district of Cosel ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

George Ernst came from the old Pomeranian noble family Pirch . His parents were the Polish - Electoral Saxon captain and heir to Klein Nossin, Podel and Daber , Georg Ernst von Pirch (1695–1765) and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth Luise, born von Somnitz from the Beversdorf family (1701–1781). He had twelve siblings, including the two Prussian generals Franz Otto von Pirch (1733–1813) and Nikolaus Heinrich von Pirch (1736–1808) and the French Colonel Johann Ernst von Pirch (1744–1783).

Military career

Like his two brothers Johann Ernst von Pirch and Franz Otto von Pirch , Pirch received his upbringing from his uncle in Dresden . In 1744 he became an ensign and in 1751 was a second lieutenant in the Saxon body guard. In 1756 he was taken prisoner by the Prussians after the siege near Pirna .

In 1756 he was employed as a captain in the Prussian infantry regiment "von Wylich" No. 21 , where he became company commander and took part in the battle of Rossbach . On the spot he was awarded the Pour le Mérite order . 1758 he was for a short time aide of Prince Henry of Prussia on the Saxon border, however, served from 1759 to the King as adjutant and was immediately after the Battle of Legnica for Major transported. In the battle of Torgau he was captured by Austria .

In 1763 he was a major in the Royal Foot Guard and was with the diplomatic accompaniment of the Turkish embassy Sultan Mustafa III. instructed. He received the embassy at Tarnowitz , escorted them to Berlin and in 1764 led them back to the border at Kreuzburg . In the same year he became a knight of the Order of St. John .

On June 15, 1771, Pirch became a colonel and, in 1773, commander of the "von Lengefeld" infantry regiment No. 52 . In 1777 he became the new chief of the "von Tümpling" garrison regiment No. 2 , based in Schidlitz near Danzig .

From 1785 Pirch received supplies, a return to service was refused. So he was promoted for the last time in 1793, to major general.

Pirch was the hereditary lord on Klein Nossin, which he sold to the von der Marwitz family after 400 years of family ownership, as well as on several estates near Opole through marriage, where he ended his old age .

family

Pirch married Henriette Karoline Maximiliane von Neefe and Obischau in 1765 († February 26, 1806). The marriage resulted in two daughters. The eldest daughter Henriette (born September 1, 1766) died shortly after the birth. The second Maximiliane Amalie (* 1768; † August 3, 1828) married the captain Raymund Casafranca von St. Paul (* 1757; † August 10, 1810). His wife was an orphan but heir to the Krzanowitz, Langelieben and Nimsdorf estates.
