Nikolaus Heinrich von Pirch also Klaus Heinrich von Pirch (born August 22, 1736 in Klein Nossin ; † November 16, 1808 in Bütow ) was a Prussian major general , wing adjutant of Frederick the Great and commandant of Graudenz .

Life

Nikolaus Heinrich came from the old Pomeranian noble family Pirch . His parents were the Polish - Electoral Saxon captain and heir to Klein Nossin, Podel and Daber , Georg Ernst von Pirch (1695–1765) and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth Luise, born von Somnitz from the Beversdorf family (1701–1781). He had twelve siblings, including the two Prussian generals George Lorenz von Pirch (1730–1797) and Franz Otto von Pirch (1733–1813) and the French Colonel Johann Ernst von Pirch (1744–1783).

Career

Together with his three brothers mentioned above, Pirch was brought up by his uncle Dubislav Nikolaus von Pirch (1693–1768) in Dresden . Afterwards he became a page at the Saxon court and finally joined the Electoral Saxon service as a flag junior in 1750 .

In the following year, 1751, he diminished and became a page (wing adjutant) to King Frederick the Great. On February 18, 1754, he joined the Prussian Army in Infantry Regiment No. 33 (Fouqué) as an ensign . During the Seven Years' War he was wounded in the Battle of Prague and then, four days later, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant . He continued to take part in the Battle of Kolin , the Siege of Olomouc , and the Battle of Liegnitz . Near Torgau was badly wounded and plundered by opposing dragoons on the battlefield. In 1762 he was appointed by the brigadier at Nimschewski as his general adjutant . In 1763, only after the Treaty of Hubertusburg , he was promoted to prime lieutenant.

Together with his brothers in 1765, by mutual agreement and without consideration, he handed over the debts of the paternal inheritance of Klein Nossin to the oldest of them, George Lorenz von Pirch .

In 1770 he was promoted to staff captain and was the real captain and company commander in 1771 own Grenadier kompanie . He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession , in particular the "Affair of Neustadt". In 1785 he received the patent including almost immediate promotion to major .

Pirch married his niece Karoline Ernestine von Pirch from the house of Poganitz (1764-1837), a daughter of the last Pirchschen owner of Poganitz, as well as hereditary lords of Groß Gluschen and Schochow and his sister Barbara Maria von Pirch (1743-1817). Three sons were born from the marriage in Graudenz, but they all remained single.
