Glarsdorf (dialect: [ 'glo: ʃdɔɐf]) is a place in the Upper Styria and location of the market town of chambers in Liesingtal in Leoben District of Styria .

geography

The place is located about 11 kilometers northwest of Leoben . It is 700  m above sea level. A. in the middle of the Trofaiach basin and is 4 km northeast of the community capital Kammern im Liesingtal , and 4 km southwest of Trofaiach .

The settlement covers about 30 buildings with about 80 inhabitants, the good part, about 20 addresses in the town itself. For village area includes south the single vineyard Rieger, Roth and Reiterer , who for Reitererkogel  ( 953  m above sea level. A. ), the East Summit of the Veitscherwald , as well as parts of the Veitscher settlement towards Seiz. In addition, for statistical reasons , the group Am Seeanger is counted as part of the village, which is 3½ km southeast behind the Veitscherwald on Lake Traboch and is part of the Kammerner municipality.

The place itself forms an orographically hardly recognizable valley pass in the Trofaiach basin, which with the eastern part already belongs to the Vordernbergertal : to the east the Mochlerbach flows to the Veitscherbach , to the west the Damischbach , which joins the Ploderbach to the Seizerbach , both flow into the Liesing. The watershed is marked by the Kote  709 west of the place. The Veitscherwald lies within this area.

history

The name Glarsdorf appears as Gladisdorf for the first time in an Admont foundation letter from Archbishop Gebhard around the year 1074 with the mention of a Hube ( "Mansum I ad Gladisdorf" ). In other documents it appears as glass peat in the 15th century .

Infrastructure

The state road L116  Edlingerstraße Seiz - Edling - St. Peter-Freienstein can be reached. The Pyhrn Autobahn A 9 runs 3 km to the south.

There are three water sources, a bus stop each at two of the three road crossings leading to the village, a chapel , and an ice stock rink . The former Gasthaus Zum lustigen Teufel with guest rooms is now (2012) only operated as a bed and breakfast . A small ski lift on the Reitererkogel, operated by a VW Beetle engine , is intended for winter sports.
