The Gmina Strzyżów is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Strzyżów of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . The seat of Powiat and municipality is the city of the same name with about 8900 inhabitants.
Geography and location
Strzyżów is located in the so-called Forest Carpathians part of the Outer Eastern Carpathians. The waters include Wisłok and Stobnica , which converge in Strzyżów. The city is located between the two cities of Krosno and Rzeszów , which are about 25 kilometers away.
History and politics
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to the Rzeszów Voivodeship . The municipality is a member of the European Charter - Villages of Europe , a group of rural municipalities from all 28 EU countries.
