history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1321 as "Goezensdorf" (village of Gozzo), where Gozzo is a personal name. The place was initially under the episcopal administrative office Stadtsteinach of the diocese of Bamberg . In 1398 a chapel was mentioned which belonged to the parish of St. Maria Magdalena in Kirchleus and over which the noble family von Henlein zu Kirchleus, a branch of the von Guttenberg family , exercised the right of patronage. They belonged to the Principality of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . Especially after the introduction of the Reformation in the principality in 1528, this led to constant disputes between the principality and the bishopric of Bamberg, which only ended in 1803 with the secularization of Bavaria .

The chapel, the St. Giles was dedicated, was a church of St. Egidius expanded. With the holy wood (39 hectares of forest for the maintenance of the church and the worship service) it was richer than the mother church in Kirchleus.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 31 properties and 2 community shepherds' houses in Gössersdorf. The high court north of the brook was exercised by the Bamberg center Stadtsteinach , south of the brook by the Bavarian bailiff's office in Kulmbach . The village and township government had the office Stadtsteinach held. The landlords were the Kastenamt Stadtsteinach (1 Sölde , 1 Söldenhofstatt), the Amt Wartenfels (1 courtyard, 1 drip house ), the Kastenamt Kulmbach (1 courtyard, 1 drip house, 2 estates, 1 Söldengut, 1 smithy), the Langheimer Amtshof (1 courtyard , 11 estates, 1 mill), the Kirchleus manor (church, 1 courtyard, 2 Söldengütlein, 1 manor ), the manor Wernstein (1 courtyard), the manor Weißenbrunn (1 manor ) and the manor Forstlahm (1 half manor ).

In 1804 Gösserdorf came to Bavaria. With the community edict (early 19th century) Gössersdorf was assigned to the Fischbach tax district . In 1818 the rural community of Gössersdorf was formed. It was subordinate to the Stadtsteinach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Stadtsteinach Rent Office in the financial administration . The municipality had an area of 6.253 km².

With the dissolution of the Stadtsteinach district in 1972, the municipality belonged to the Kulmbach district . With the regional reform in Bavaria , Gössersdorf became a district of Weißenbrunn on July 1, 1976 and has been part of the Kronach district since then .
