Grafenberg is a nature reserve designated by the Stuttgart Regional Council of July 31, 1995 with the number 1.022.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Schönbuch and Glemswald natural area . It is located on the southwest slope of the Schönbuch above the Kayh and Mönchberg districts of the city of Herrenberg and is part of the FFH area No. 7420-341 Schönbuch and the bird sanctuary No. 7420-441 Schönbuch . The entire mountain spur of the Grafenberg (approx. 6 ha) is owned by the Swabian Heimatbund .

Protection purpose

According to the regulation, the protection purpose is:

  • the maintenance of the near-natural, landscape-typical, dry, warm deciduous forest, steppe heaths, smooth oat meadows, orchards, wasteland and succession areas;
  • the development of non-typical forest stands to near-natural, dry, warm deciduous forest stands;
  • the conservation of the diverse biotopes as habitats for numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species;
  • the preservation of the particularly varied, charming and typical landscape of the southern edge of Schönbuch.

Flora and fauna

As floristic featured are "critically endangered" in Germany as classified Hungarian pea and in Baden-Württemberg than rated "at risk" Campion emphasized. A special faunistic feature is the March snail , which is considered to be endangered in Germany.
