Harm Dieder Kirschner
Harm Dieder Kirschner (* 1962 ) is a master organ builder based in Stapelmoor ( East Friesland ).
Life
From 1982 to 1986 he went to the organ building apprenticeship with Emil Hammer ( Hanover ). Kirschner worked from 1987 to 1991 and from 1995 to 1997 for the organ builder Jürgen Ahrend , from 1991 with Johannes Rohlf and from 1991 to 1994 with Orgelbau Mühleisen ( Leonberg ). He completed the master course at the music school for organ building in Ludwigsburg (1991–94). After running an organ workshop in Weener for ten years (1997–2007), he moved his headquarters to Stapelmoor in 2007 , where a new workshop was built. In October 2009 five employees were employed there. After three months of experimentation with a makeshift foundry in Weener, Kirschner and Winold van der Putten have been running a foundry in Finsterwolde , the Netherlands , since 2001 , where the sand casting process from the 17th century is revived and the pipe material is hammered in the traditional way. For this purpose, Kirschner developed a mechanical hammering machine based on the drawings by Dom Bédos .
In autumn 2008 Kirschner discovered manuscripts from the 15th century during restoration work that had been used to seal the wind bellows of the Burhafer organ . These are copies of the “Summa de vitiis” (“Sum of Vices”), which the Dominican Wilhelmus Peraldus wrote about sin in the 13th century, as well as liturgical fragments. Presumably they come from an abolished monastery and after the Reformation no longer had any value for the Protestant East Frisia.
In 2018, NDR television visited him for a report on the program Hallo Niedersachsen .
plant
The focus of Kirschner's work is on building new organs in northwest Germany. However, he is also active with various plants in the Ruhr area and occasionally internationally. Stylistically, he is not fixed, but builds in a baroque, romantic or modern way. Kirschner has now carried out over 30 organ repairs and stylish restorations.
