Most Holy Trinity is a parish church built between 1747 and 1756 in Grainet in the Freyung-Grafenau district in Lower Bavaria .

The village of Grainet belonged to the parish Freyung until 1750 . Four to five times a year the Freyung priest celebrated church services in the old Nikolauskirche , built around 1500 , but which was much too small due to the population growth in the community. They turned to Cardinal - Prince-Bishop Joseph Dominikus von Lamberg in Passau, who recognized the emergency but did not provide any money for a new church. The Passau landlord and ship master Lukas Kern (1681–1749), already known as a benefactor and benefactor, helped the poor forest dwellers and they were able to set up their own parish with a foundation of 10,000 guilders and start building a new church. The young clergyman Franz Xaver Schmid was commissioned with this; his tasks were varied, but he was denied the support of the ordinariate . It was Lukas Kern who warned the cardinal to approve his letter of foundation, reported on the conditions in Grainet and pleaded with the pastor in Grainet for more help.

On December 2, 1748, Franz Xaver Schmid was appointed vicar and on June 4, 1750, pastor of Grainet.

The new parish area was huge; in the northeast it reached as far as the Bohemian border, the neighboring parishes of Kuschwarda and Böhmisch-Röhren belonged to the diocese of Budweis . The highest church in the Diocese of Passau, “St. Johann von Nepomuk near the sand houses ”, Leopoldsreut had to be pastorized by the Graineter pastor. With Fürholz , Grainet, Gschwendet, Hochstein, Hobelsberg, Mitterling, Obergrainet, Ohmühle, Rehberg , Ober- and Unterseilberg and Vorderfreundorf , with Auersbergsreut, Bischofsreut, Haberau, Langreut, Marchhäuser, Raumreut, Schnellnzipf (1869 branch, 1880 parish Bischofsreut), with Frauenberg, Haidhäuser, Ludwigsreut, Theresienreut, (today Parish of Haidmühle) with Duschlberg Leopoldsreut, Ostermühle, Schwendreut, the pastor had to care for over 3000 Catholics in 1867. Church building

In the entrance portraits of the donor couple Lukas and Anna Theresia Kern , old gravestones. The church building from 1747 to 1756 by Severin Goldberger (Passau master builder) with retracted choir, square, just closed on the outside, centrally designed on the inside, choir arch, coupled Tuscan pilasters. The nave, 3 yokes vaulted with excessive transverse barrels, in the west yoke a double massive gallery. Arched windows, the tower was added in 1887/88. (4 bells). The Passau painter Johann Georg Unruhe (1724–1801) created the original high altar in 1753 with the altarpiece of the Assumption of the Virgin , taken from the Holy Trinity al fresco , that is, painted on fresh plaster.

The high altar was acquired in 1823 from the secular former Franciscan church in Passau. The altar 1681 by the Passau sculptor Mathias Högenwald; he wrote in a letter: I hope to get the high aldar to the Franzischganern von Holz now, I made the sights (model) right away and went to Munich, her elector. Easily sent, which the promise was already given.

The mighty wooden structure with stepped columns, cranked segment arches in the elevator, 3 columns each, curved gable pieces and central cartridge IHS closed. The oval picture, a representation of Mary surrounded by angel heads (putti). The altarpiece is flanked by “Franciscan saints” (larger than life, St. Louis , Bishop of Toulouse and St. Bonaventure), above (St. Elzearius, St. Pacificus). Outside white angel figures with incense barrels; scattered golden arkanthus jewelry on the black baroque altar.

The altarpiece shows the coronation of Mary by the Holy Trinity and bears the signature Pendl, (Franz Ignaz Pendel) also Bendl, which was painted over during restorations.

The side altars, simple column systems with a curved extension, created in 1826 by the Hutthurm master carpenter Matthias Schmidt.

Altar pictures: formerly donor pictures (St. Luke and St. Anna ), today scenes from the Passion (flagellation / mockery and crucifixion ).

Decorative figures - side altars: Pieta (Mary with a dead son on her lap) (around 1750) Wies-Heiland (Christ on the hostage column) with natural hair, beard and a red cloth cloak, the copy brought by a pilgrim from the Fürholz parish of Steingaden of the image of grace; was the destination of small pilgrimages from the nearby Bohemian Forest from 1795.

Pulpit: simple baroque style, pulpit, structured by pilasters, with shell work. Pictorial representation of the four evangelists; Sound cover shell work, back wall, image of the good shepherd. Curly stairs with biblical scenes (Moses on Mount Sinai, Good Samaritan).
