The village of Heuchling is a district of Lauf an der Pegnitz with about 2700 inhabitants. It is located in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land . The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

history

Although Heuchling was first mentioned in a document in 1275, the settlement was probably cleared from the Reichswald as early as 900 AD . The name Heuchlingen at that time means “belonging to the people of a certain Huchilo”, which shows that the village initially developed from a single farm. In addition, the name suggests that the place was settled from the south, where place names ending in -ing occur more frequently.

It was only after the Counter Reformation in 1629 in the rulership of Rothenburg that Heuchling became dependent on the city of Lauf due to its assignment to the parish of the Protestant community of Lauf.

Heuchling's corridors bordered the area of the imperial city of Nuremberg in the west, the electoral Bavarian enclave Rothenberg in the east (see: Rothenberg Fortress ) and in the south on Schönberg, which belonged to Prussia from 1792 to 1806 . In 1806, Heuchling fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria and was placed under the care office of Lauf.

From 1806 to 1818 Heuchling belonged to the tax district Simonshofen , from 1808 to the regional court of Schnaittach and from 1809 to the regional court of Lauf and Hersbruck Rent Office . From 1818 on , Heuchling was a parish.

After the village had grown after the Second World War due to the influx of numerous refugees and industrial settlements, it was incorporated into the town of Lauf an der Pegnitz during the regional reform on May 1, 1978.

The Heuchling manor at Dehnberger Straße 2 is a former aristocratic residence that played an important role in Heuchling's history for a long time.

From the middle of the 14th century there is evidence of a manor house that was owned by the Nuremberg citizen Ulrich von Winterstein in 1361 and later passed through the Nuremberg patrician family Fürer in 1523 to the Nuremberg family Kun and in 1539 to the patrician family Geuder . During the Second Margrave War 1552–53, the citizen's seat was destroyed and rebuilt twice. After the war, the manor house passed to the Pfinzing patrician family in 1566 . After this line of the Pfinzing family died out in 1620, Sebastian Scheurl von Defersdorf , the supreme Vogt of the Nuremberg City Court, acquired the estate. During the Thirty Years' War in 1630, the staff of General Albrecht von Wallenstein set up in the manor. Three years later the seat was destroyed and rebuilt in its current location. With a brief interruption, the Scheurl family owned the seat until the 19th century. In 1853, Christoph Gottlieb Adolph Scheurl sold the estate, which had already been decimated by sales in previous years, to the innkeeper Johann Ziegler from Hohenstein , who divided it up further. The manor house was acquired by Ludwig Volckamer von Kirchensittenbach in 1875 . In 1900 the new owner Margarethe Warmuth from Nuremberg moved into the manor house with her two children. She was followed by Otto Kolb and, from 1935, Otto Lauterbach, who rented the former manor house to workers and pensioners. After the Second World War, the entire property came into the possession of the Engelhard family, who extensively renovated the property in 1975.
