Hinz is an abbreviation for Heinrich as a subform of Heinz and was widely used as a given name in the late Middle Ages and early modern times . The former popular character is also revealed by the phrase " Hinz and Kunz ", which means something like "everyone". The variants Hinz and Hintze can be found almost exclusively as family names in German-speaking countries today .
