The Technical University of Rosenheim (short TH Rosenheim ) is a university of applied sciences and was founded on August 1, 1971 as the University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim . It is best known for its faculty for wood technology and construction.
history
The forerunner of the university was the private wood technology center , which was founded in 1925 by the Rosenheim sawmill owner Hugo Laue (1869–1956) at Max-Josephs-Platz 20, among others. In May 1925 the school had 22 students and 12 people attended the evening course for masters and assistants. In 1943 the university was nationalized.
1950 were timber industry sstudium and the course sawmill introduced stechnik. In the following year the name was changed to Staatliches Holztechnikum Rosenheim / Staatliche Ingenieurschule . Engineering courses over six semesters were introduced in 1953. In 1958, practice and test facilities were built on the site of today's university. A new focus was added in 1967 with plastics processing.
In 1969 a new study building was built in Marienberger Strasse. The higher business school was opened the following year. In 1971, when the Bavarian University of Applied Sciences Act came into force, the previous schools and courses of study at the State University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim were combined with the departments of general sciences, business administration, wood technology and plastics technology. The introduction of further courses followed:

In 2003 the city of Rosenheim renamed the adjacent street Am Scharn to Hochschulstraße .
With the timetable change, the new university stop on the Rosenheim – Mühldorf railway went into operation on December 9, 2012 .
A team from the university took second place at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 . As part of the Excellence Initiative 2012, Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences was recognized as a partner of the Technical University of Munich for its future-oriented collaboration in the fields of wood technology, wood construction and energy efficiency.
In the 2014/15 winter semester, the Mühldorf am Inn campus was opened with the first degree in mechanical engineering. There are now five courses offered on this campus. The Burghausen campus was opened in the 2016/17 winter semester . The university now offers four bachelor's degrees there. Seminars at the Technical University of Rosenheim have been taking place on the Chiemgau campus since autumn 2019.
On April 18, 2018, Prime Minister Markus Söder announced that Rosenheim University would be upgraded to a technical university . This change was made at the start of the 2018/2019 winter semester. The university continues to have the status of a technical college.
