Huljajpole (Ukrainian Гуляйполе ; Russian Гуляйполе / Guljaipole ) is a small town in Zaporizhia Oblast in south-central Ukraine . Huljajpole is located on the banks of the Hajtschur ( Гайчур ) 98 km east of the Zaporizhia Oblast center and is the administrative center of the raion of the same name with 14,000 inhabitants (2016).
Borough
In addition to the city itself, the municipality includes the villages of Wessele (Ukrainian Веселе ), Satyschschja (Ukrainian Затишшя ), Selenyj Haj (Ukrainian Зелений Гай ) and Marfopil (Ukrainian Марфопіль ).

history
The place was founded in 1785 and had 150 inhabitants in 1788. The city became famous for Nestor Makhno , an anarchist who was born here in 1888 and founder of the Makhovshchina partisan movement . Huljajpole has had city status since 1938.
