Tschernihiwka ( Ukrainian Чернігівка ; Russian Черниговка Tschernigowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Oblast of Zaporizhia with 6,100 inhabitants (2014). Prymorsk is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
geography
Chernihivka is located in the center of Zaporizhia Oblast 150 km southeast of the center of Zaporizhia on the banks of the rivers Tokmak (Ukrainian Токмак ) and Syssykulak (Ukrainian Сисикулак ). The location is on the highway M 18 / E 105 .
In addition to Chernihivka itself, the settlement council also includes the villages of Verkhniy Tokmak Perschyj (Ukrainian Верхній Токмак Перший ) with about 410 inhabitants and Verkhniy Tokmak Druhyj (Ukrainian Верхній Токмак Докмагern. )
history
Chernihiwka was founded in 1783 by state farmers from the Chernihiw province (hence the name). 1806 the village population was 2078 inhabitants. On October 7, 1941, Wehrmacht troops occupied the place, which was liberated by the Red Army on September 18, 1943. In 1923 the place became a Rajonzentrum and in 1957 received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Chernihiwka Rajon, founded in 1923 and administered from Chernihiwka, is located in the center of the Zaporizhia Oblast. The population is about 18,000 inhabitants (2012), the area 1200 km² and the population density is 15 inhabitants per km².
