Wassyliwka ( Ukrainian Василівка ; Russian Васильевка Wassiljewka ) is a city in Zaporizhia Oblast in south-central Ukraine with about 13,000 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the Vasylivka district and is located at an altitude of 82 m on the eastern southern bank of the Dnepr , which is dammed up to the Kachowka reservoir .
The M 18 trunk road and the P-37 regional road run through the city .
history
The village was founded in 1784 and Vasylivka has had town charter since 1957.
Near Wassyliwka, Popow Castle was built in neo-Gothic style between 1864 and 1884 . After heavy destruction in the Second World War , it has been rebuilt since the beginning of the 1990s.
