history
The place was founded in 1800 and was named Obitotschne (Ukrainian Обіточне ). In 1817, on behalf of the governor- general of New Russia, Duke von Richelieu , the construction of a port at the mouth of the Obytitschna was started. When it was found that the location for the port was badly chosen, work was stopped and the port in Berdyansk was built. To celebrate the victory over Napoleon during his Russian campaign in 1812 , the Orthodox Church of the "Holy Trinity" was built in 1813.
In 1821 the village was Nogaisk (Russian Ногайськ ) after living here members of the ethnic group of the Nogay renamed and carried that name until 1964, only to get its present name. In 1835 the settlement had 2,927 and in 1861 3,248 inhabitants. In 1896 the village received the status of a town, but this was revoked after the October Revolution, but in 1938 the place was given the status of an urban-type settlement again.
On October 6, 1941, the place was occupied by the Wehrmacht and liberated by the Red Army on September 18, 1943 . After Prymorsk had lost the status of a city in the meantime, it received it again in 1967.
