Ibrahim Amadou (born April 6, 1993 in Douala , Cameroon ) is a French football player who has been under contract with the Spanish first division club Sevilla FC since July 2018 .
He can be used both as a defensive midfielder and as a central defender .
Career

Ibrahim Amadou was born in Douala , Cameroon and came to Colombe , France when he was four years old , where he started playing football for the local club Cheminots de l'Ouest . After four years at RC Paris , he moved to the AS Nancy youth academy in 2008 . He made his professional debut on March 26, 2013 in the game against Stade Brest .
On July 16, 2015, Amadou signed a four-year contract with OSC Lille . He made his debut for Lille on matchday one of the 2015/16 season against Paris Saint-Germain . He scored his first goal on March 12, 2016 in a 2-1 win against SC Bastia . In the next 2016/17 season , Amadou was already an undisputed regular player in defensive midfield at Lille. For the 2017/18 season he was appointed captain by coach Marcelo Bielsa . On August 13, 2017, he acted in goal from minute 63, as Mike Maignan was sent off and Lille could no longer change.
On July 2, 2018, Amadou signed a four-year contract with the Primera División club Sevilla FC . In the 2018/19 season he was used irregularly and played 17 league games.
On August 7, 2019, he switched to the English Premier League promoted Norwich City in a loan deal , which also secured an optional purchase option for the midfielder. On January 30, 2020, Amadou 's loan was terminated prematurely after 11 league appearances for the Canaries . On the same day he was awarded directly to the Spanish first division club CD Leganés until the end of the season . There he completed 10 league games and then returned to Sevilla FC.
National team
Amadou was born in Cameroon, but grew up in France and would therefore be eligible to play for both nations. He has previously been in action twice for France's U-19s . In December 2016 he was called up to join the Cameroonian squad , which was supposed to represent the nation at the Africa Cup of 2017 , but declined this invitation.
