Ikerasak [ iˈkɜʁasak ] (from the old spelling Ikerasak ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Upernavik in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Ikerasak is located on the island of Qeqertaq , 18 km southwest of Upernavik Kujalleq . The Sullua fjord runs off Ikerasak . Just a little further than Upernavik Kujalleq is 19 km northwest of Kangersuatsiaq .

history

Ikerasak was first mentioned in 1798 when 23 people lived there. In 1806 the living space was uninhabited. In 1850 Ikerasak had 26 inhabitants again. Later Ikerasak was only a part of the year inhabited settlement. At the beginning of the 20th century, however, some people settled permanently in Ikerasak. From 1911 Ikerasak was part of the Upernavik Kujalleq municipality. In 1918 the residential area had 16 residents who lived in six houses. From 1928 Ikerasak was not permanently inhabited again.
