Ján Markoš (born July 2, 1985 , Banská Bystrica ) is a Slovak chess master .

Life

Markoš learned the game of chess from his sister when he was six. In 2001 he became international champion and was Slovak national champion. He has been a grandmaster since 2007 . He achieved the required standards at the European team championship in 2001 in León , in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons of the Czech extra league and at the Slovak individual championship in 2006 in Banská Štiavnica .

In 2008 he published the book Beat the KID with the Quality Chess publishing house ( ISBN 978-1-906552-15-2 ), in which he treated variants against the King's Indian Defense . Jan Markoš also writes chess articles. Markoš's analyzes can be found on the ChessFriends.com website. There he also has a training chess column.

National team

Markoš took part in the Chess Olympiad with the Slovak team in 2000 , 2002 , 2006 , 2008, 2010 , 2012 and 2014 and scored a total of 27.5 points from 50 games. In 2001 and 2017 he took part in the European Team Championship.

In the Slovak Extraliga , Markoš played from 1998 to 2015 for the ŠK Slovan Bratislava (initially for the junior team, since 2001 in the first team), with whom he became Slovak team champion in 2002 , 2009 and 2013 and took part in the European Club Cup in 2001 . He has been playing for REINTER Humenné since the 2015/16 season . Markoš played in the German Federal Chess League from 2006 to 2008 for the TSV Bindlach shareholder and from 2008 to 2011 for the Schachfreunde Berlin . In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga he played for ASVÖ Pamhagen from 2007 to 2009 and for ASVÖ SK Lackenbach from 2009 to 2011 . In the Hungarian team championship he played for Községi Sportegyesület Decs in the 2008/09 season , and since 2009 he has played for Szombathelyi MÁV Haladás VSE .

In the Czech Extra League he played for ŠK Sokol Kolín in the 2000/01 season, for ŠK Trinom Zlín from 2001 to 2007 and for 1. Novoborský ŠK from 2007 to 2019 , with whom he played in 2008 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , In 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 he became team champion and took part in the European Club Cup from 2008 to 2012 , where he achieved third place with the team in 2011. He has been playing for Slavia Kroměříž since 2019 . In 2010 he played for UE Montcada in the Spanish team championship .

Private

Markoš studies philosophy and evangelical theology in Prague .
