JH Hutchinson

Joseph H. "JH" Hutchinson (born May 21, 1864 in Central City , Colorado Territory , †  September 5, 1930 in San Francisco , California ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1901 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Idaho .

Career

Joseph Hutchinson was the son of James Hutchinson, a major mine owner in the later state of Colorado . At the age of 16 he moved to Denver where he graduated from high school. In 1890 he became chairman of the Colorado Mining Stock . Later he was also their secretary and treasurer. He gave up these positions but to support his father in his mining company, which was now based in Idaho. In the following years he expanded his business interests to other mining companies. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party , with which he fell out in the currency dispute in the United States at the time.

In 1898, Hutchinson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Idaho as a Democratic Party candidate alongside Frank Steunenberg . He held this office between January 2, 1899 and January 7, 1901. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . The businessman and politician who was married to Helen Hays died on September 5, 1930 in San Francisco.
