James M. Stevens

James M. Stevens (born January 30, 1873 in Oneida County , Idaho , †  August 22, 1937 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1905 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Idaho.

Career

James Stevens grew up on his father's farm and attended public schools in his home country. After completing a law degree at Stanford University in California and being admitted to the bar, he began working for the law firm Detrich, Chalmers & Stevens in Boise . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1902 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Idaho at the side of John T. Morrison . He held this office between January 5, 1903 and January 2, 1905. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate .

After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor James Stevens practiced again as a lawyer. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he became an Assistant City Attorney for that city. He died there on August 22, 1937 after a brief illness.
