Donald S. Whitehead

Donald Strehle Whitehead (born October 10, 1888 in Three Oaks , Berrien County , Michigan , †  January 2, 1957 in Boise , Idaho ) was an American politician . Between 1939 and 1941 and again from 1947 to 1951 he was Vice Governor of the State of Idaho.

Career

Just six months after his birth, Donald Whitehead came to Boise with his parents. In 1907 he graduated from the University of Idaho . He embarked on a career in the construction industry, which he soon broke off to work in the family's pharmacy business. His main job was in this branch. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . He became a member of the Idaho House of Representatives and President of that Chamber of Representatives .

In 1938, Whitehead was elected Lieutenant Governor of Idaho alongside CA Bottolfsen . He held this office between January 2, 1939 and January 6, 1941. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1946 he was re-elected to this office. In the meantime, the term of office had been extended from two to four years. Between January 6, 1947 and January 1, 1951, he was Vice-Governor's representative of Governor Charles A. Robins .

In June 1947 he made headlines when he claimed to have seen a UFO over Boise . At that time other sightings of this kind were reported. Whitehead made national headlines with his alleged or actual UFO observations. He died in Boise on January 2, 1957.
