Mark Ricks

Mark G. Ricks (born July 4, 1924 in Rexburg , Idaho ; † September 29, 2016 there ) was an American politician . In 2006 and 2007, he was Lieutenant Governor of Idaho State .

Career

Mark Ricks grew up in Madison County . He later worked as a farmer and rancher. He mainly grew potatoes and grain and raised cattle. Since the late 1940s he was politically active as a member of the Republican Party , in which he initially held some party offices. In 1976, after the Teton Dam broke, he became known in wider circles when he organized the reconstruction. Between 1979 and 1994 he sat in the Idaho House of Representatives , where he chaired and vice chairman of various committees. He was also a member of numerous associations and organizations in his home country.

Following the resignation of Governor Dirk Kempthorne , who had been appointed US Secretary of the Interior , his lieutenant governor Jim Risch was constitutionally appointed as his successor. He then appointed Ricks as his successor as lieutenant governor, who held this office between June 15, 2006 and January 1, 2007. In 2006, Ricks waived another candidacy. Instead, Risch, who had waived re-election as governor, was re-elected lieutenant governor under Butch Otter .

After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, Mark Ricks was no longer politically active.
