The Jaguar R2 was the Formula 1 - racing cars from Jaguar for the Formula 1 2001 season . Like its predecessor, the engine came from the engine supplier Cosworth . The French tire manufacturer Michelin provided the tires for the first time .
The successor to the car for the 2002 season was the Jaguar R3 .
Painting and sponsorship
The basic color of the R2 was green ( British Racing Green ). In addition to the main sponsor HSBC , there were also sponsor stickers from Beck’s , Texaco , Michelin , AT&T , hp and Lear .
driver
Eddie Irvine (No. 18) and Luciano Burti (No. 19) were again chosen as drivers for the R2 . After only four races, Burti was replaced by Pedro de la Rosa . Test and reserve driver was Tomas Scheckter .
2001 season
2001 was a season of consolidation for Jaguar after a disastrous start in 2000 with only four points in the constructors' championship. The car was more conservative and reliable, and the team's success was slightly better, if not a quantum leap. There were only four finishings in the points, with Eddie Irvine's third place in Monaco marking Jaguar's first podium. In the constructors' championship they reached eighth place with nine points.
