The Janina Miščiukaitė Art School Jonava ( Lithuanian Jonavos Janinos Miščiukaitės meno mokykla ) is a state special school for musically, choreographically, acting and artistically gifted children and young people in the city of Jonava , in the Kaunas district in Lithuania . The other programs are early childhood education , targeted education, and amateur education. The school of non-formal education, founded initially as a music school , has expanded from year to year and as an art school currently has four separate departments. On December 31, 2015, 569 students were studying (including 250 students in the music department, 91 students in the visual arts, 116 students in the choreography department and 55 students in the theater department). 130 new students are accepted every year. There are around 85 graduates each year (as of 2015).
The school works closely with the Jonava Cultural Center and the Jonava Art Gallery . The pupils take part in cultural events of the Rajong community (actions and festivals in Joninės Valley , city festival), international festivals ("Homo ludens", art festival "Atverk duris" etc.), theater performances by Jonava City Theater and are award winners of international competitions. The performances were, among others, at the national LTV singing competition " Dainų dainelė ", the historical dance school collective had joint LNOBT concerts in the Grand Duchy of Vilnius, etc.
The art school has several buildings. The main building houses the music department, library and concert hall . The administration office (director, two deputy directors, secretary etc.) is also located here.

Orchestra, choirs, ensembles
The art school has some orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other art collectives and groups. The music department of the art school has its own children's and youth choirs, a girl-singer ensemble, a brass orchestra with its own choreographic troupe, and a string ensemble . The pupils are members of the common string orchestra with the music school of the neighboring parishes of Kėdainiai and of the common accordionist orchestra with the music school of Garliava ( Kaunas district ), "Fioretti" historical dance ensemble.
history
In 1965 the Jonava Music School was founded. It was housed in the culture club of the Jonava Furniture Company . In 1976 the school got new rooms in what was then the 2nd Jonava Middle School. Since 1990 the school has been located in the center of the city, in the former pioneer house .
In 1982 the department for fine arts was opened . The choreography department was opened in 1992 and the theater department in 1993 .
In 1994 the school became an art school . There have been 1,121 graduates up to this year.
On June 20, 2002, the school workers union was established. In December 2016, a total of 74 people were employed.
In 2009 the school was named after the Jonava-born musician Janina Miščiukaitė (1948–2008).
In 2015, the students took part in 16 festivals (in Kaunas , Kaišiadorys , Marijampolė , Kupiškis, Tauragė and Neringa), in 118 events (concerts, exhibitions, performances) in the city and in the school, in 13 international competitions (11 Art school students became winners and 14 students received diplomas), 27 students became winners and 27 students received diplomas in national competitions. In 2015 there were 32 open classes for parents and carers and 7 Republican seminars were organized for teachers at the school.
Since 2017, the talented students of the art school have been sponsored by the local women's association Jonavos krašto moterų asociacija “Jonavietė”.
In December 2017, the new music theater play The Dwarf Nose was performed, with a total of 210 actors participating. The director was Andrius Kurienius (Kaunas Drama Theater). The main role was played by Gerardas Lisauskas, the student in the music department.
