Johannes "Jean" Breuer (born March 1, 1938 in Hürth-Efferen ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

From his youth, Jean Breuer started for the "RSG 1919 Hürth". His home track was the Hürth cycle race track . He was West German standing master six times . At the UCI track world championships in 1972 in Marseille , Jean Breuer took second place behind his compatriot Horst Gnas in the amateurs' standing race . Two years later, at the World Track Championships in Montreal , he became world champion, led by Dieter Durst . In 1982 he took third place in the German stand-up championship for amateurs, led by Christian Dippel. He was a member of the German national standing team under Gustav Kilian for 17 years and played 41 international matches with her. From 1969 until the end of the Hürther Bahn in 1990 he was co-organizer of three standing races there every year. In 1997 he won his last victory at the age of 59. When he ended his active career in 1999, he had taken part in around 1,100 races with 185 first and around 560 second or third places.

Jean Breuer is still active as chairman of his club and organizes an annual stand-up race on the Albert Richter track in the Cologne bicycle stadium .
