Roland Königshofer (born October 24, 1962 in Neunkirchen , Lower Austria ) is a former Austrian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Cycling career

Roland Königshofer, nicknamed "Specht", is one of the most successful cyclists in Austria. His cycling career began in 1976; he won 29 Austrian state titles in various disciplines (in the team pursuit , the two-side driving , the points drive , in Dernyrennen ). From 1987 to 1990 he was the overall winner of the European Cup for the stayers and from 1989 to 1991 UCI world champion in this discipline. After the end of his sports career, he has worked in the adidas advertising department (since 1997) .

Private

Roland Königshofer spent his childhood in St. Pölten . He is divorced; his ex-wife Monika was the national goalkeeper of the Austrian youth handball team in the 1980s. Son Lukas is a goalkeeper in the 3rd division at KFC Uerdingen
