Gierałcice ( German Jeroltschütz ) is a place of Gmina Wołczyn in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

Gierałcice is located in the north-western part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Gierałcice is about three kilometers south of the municipality seat Wołczyn , about 14 kilometers west of the district town of Kluczbork and about 46 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Jerolschütz Castle

A chapel was built as early as the 15th century, which was expanded into a church at the beginning of the 17th century.

In 1845 the village consisted of a castle, a Protestant church and another 23 houses. At that time there were 240 people living in Jeroltschütz, 81 of them Catholic and one Jewish. In 1874 the district of Jeroltschütz was founded. The first head of office was the economic inspector Gustav Brand.

In 1933 634 people lived in Jeroltschütz, then 584 in 1939. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Jeroltschütz fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Gierałcice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

Attractions

• The Evangelical Church was built in the 15th century as a scrap wood church. Originally it was initially the grave chapel of the von Gieraltowski family. In 1560 the church became Protestant. In 1617 the original chapel was expanded into a church. Further alterations to the church took place in 1694, 1822–1823 and 1889. The hall church has a choir closed on several sides, a shingle roof and a square west tower. In the sacristy there are ceiling paintings from the late Renaissance. The pulpit altar was built in rococo style in 1822 . The church has been a listed building since 1953.
• The Jerolschütz Castle was built in the late 19th century Neo-Baroque style. In 1910 a south wing was added to the two-story building. To the south the castle borders on a landscape park from the 18th century. The park has old trees to this day, some of which are 300-year-old oaks. To the north of the castle are the farm buildings, including a granary, a stable and a bank note.
