Jessemon "Jesse" Blacker (born April 19, 1991 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Kazakh - Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing in the defensive position of Barys Nur-Sultan in the Continental Hockey League since July 2018 .
Career
Jesse Blacker played in his youth for the Windsor Spitfires and Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one of Canada's three major junior leagues . He won the J. Ross Robertson Cup as a champion of the OHL in 2009 and 2011 and the Memorial Cup in 2009 . In addition, he was elected to the OHL Third All-Star Team in 2011 . With the beginning of the 2011/12 season Blacker moved firmly to the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League , who act as the farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs , who had selected him in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in 58th position. After three years without NHL use in Toronto, the Maple Leafs gave him in November 2013 to the Anaheim Ducks , who also used him in the AHL, with the Norfolk Admirals . However, the defender made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Ducks during the 2014/15 season , but this one was used. The Canadian continued to play in the AHL for Norfolk, the San Antonio Rampage and Texas Stars until the end of the 2015/16 season .
Blacker then moved to Europe and joined the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , for which he scored 34 scorer points in 46 games in the 2016/17 season . After just one year, the defender left Nuremberg and moved to Kunlun Red Star in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
International
Blacker came to international assignments for his native Canada between 2016 and 2018, including the Germany Cup 2016 . When he moved to Kazakhstan, the defender subsequently took on Kazakh citizenship and made his debut for the Kazakh national team in February 2020 as part of the third qualifying round for the 2022 Winter Olympics .
