Dustin Boyd (born July 16, 1986 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with Kazakh citizenship, who has been under contract with Barys Astana / Nur-Sultan in the Continental Hockey League since September 2018 and is in the position of the center for them plays.
Career
Dustin Boyd began his career as a hockey player in 2002 with the Moose Jaw Warriors , who had selected him in 2001 at the WHL Bantam Draft with their first draft pick as the tenth player from the Western Hockey League , for which he played a total of four years. The Canadian was selected by the Calgary Flames in 98th place in the third round during the 2004 NHL Entry Draft . The attacker made his debut in the National Hockey League for Calgary on November 1, 2006 in a 2: 3 away defeat by the Detroit Red Wings . In the 2006/07 season Boyd played a total of 13 times for the Flames and 66 times for their then farm team from the American Hockey League , the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights .
Boyd scored his first NHL goal on January 6, 2007 against the Dallas Stars . In the 2007/08 season Boyd received significantly more ice age at Calgary and completed a total of 48 NHL games, but was otherwise used in their new farm team, the Quad City Flames . Since the 2008/09 season Boyd was exclusively in the Flames' NHL squad, but was transferred to the Nashville Predators on March 3, 2010 in exchange for a four-round draft pick . At the end of May 2011, after a year with the Montréal Canadiens and the Hamilton Bulldogs, he joined the Continental Hockey League at Barys Astana with Nigel Dawes . There he was one of the defining figures and high performers in the team in the following years. In 2016 he also took on the Kazakh citizenship in order to be eligible to play for the national team.
Between July 2017 and September 2018 he was under contract with HK Dynamo Moscow before returning to Barys Astana.
International
With the Canadian U20 , Boyd won the gold medal at the 2006 U20 Junior World Championship . He took part in the 2013 Deutschland Cup for the Canadian men's selection .
After his naturalization, he played for Kazakhstan at the 2016 World Cup in the top division and at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships in Division IA.
