Jonas Hofmann (born February 7, 1997 in Bamberg ) is a German soccer player . The offensive midfielder is under contract with FC Schalke 04 and is a former junior international.

Career

Born in Upper Franconia, Hofmann began playing soccer at SpVgg Etzelskirchen in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Central Franconia . In 2005, when he was eight years old, he joined the Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg via 1. FC Falke Röbersdorf . After a day of viewing on its training grounds for junior teams , he was allowed to join the club and was trained in all youth teams.

For the 2016/17 regional league season he was promoted to the second team in Nuremberg . On the first day of the match, Hofmann made his debut under the future coach of the professionals, Michael Köllner , against FC Augsburg II (1: 1) on July 16, 2016 after a substitution in the 86th minute.

After two seasons in the Franconian homeland, Hofmann moved to the third division season 2018/19 to last year's sixteenth Sportfreunde Lotte in Westphalia . There he went straight into the season as a regular player after preparation, completed 30 league games and relegated to the Regionalliga West with the sports fans at the end of the season .

The following season Hofmann moved to FC Schalke 04 , in whose second team he has played since then. On the 31st Bundesliga matchday , the midfielder made his debut in the home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen under David Wagner in the top German league after the regional league season was prematurely canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
