Julien Brouillette (* 5. December 1986 in Grand-Saint-Esprit , Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career from 2003 to 2018 for eleven games for the Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League dispute Has. The defender spent most of his career in the American Hockey League and ECHL , where he played a total of 623 games.
Career
Brouillette played during his junior years between 2003 and 2007 for the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . The defender made an offensive appearance , especially in his last two years in the league with 52 and 53 points . Nevertheless waived franchises of the National Hockey League on him in the Draft NHL Entry select.
After finishing his junior career Brouillette therefore joined the Columbia Inferno from the ECHL , where he spent a solid rookie season with 17 points from 67 games . He was then drawn to league rivals Charlotte Checkers for the next two years from the summer of 2008 . In the course of the 2009/10 season he also gained experience for the first time in the higher-level American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins and the Hartford Wolf Pack . Shortly before the start of the 2010/11 season , Brouillette secured a contract as a free agent with the Greenville Road Warriors from the ECHL, who were looking for reinforcements for the defensive area. The performance of the French-Canadian with 23 points - including eleven goals - in the first 25 games of the season finally drew attention to him again, so that in December 2010 the Lake Erie Monsters secured his services. He finished the season in the Monsters jersey.
In the summer of 2011, the defender moved within the AHL to the Hershey Bears , whose regular squad he was part of for the next two years. Before the expiry of his two-year contract, the Washington Capitals from the NHL, which was cooperating with the Bears, extended the Canadian's contract by one year ahead of schedule. They also extended the existing contract to include both the NHL and AHL. During the 2013/14 season , Brouillette finally made his NHL debut and played ten games. Mainly he was still part of the Hershey Bears squad. For the 2014/15 season , the defensive player switched to the Winnipeg Jets franchise . There he found himself again in the AHL farm team St. John's IceCaps , completed 49 games for the team but also an encounter for the Jets in the NHL.
Since his contract in Winnipeg was not renewed, Brouillette finally decided to move to Europe in the summer of 2015 . There he signed a one-year contract with Karlskrona HK , which was only promoted to Svenska Hockeyligan in the previous season . The experienced defender completed the 2015/16 season as the team's captain . He shared this office with Tom Linder . Despite a catastrophic championship round with only nine wins from 52 games, the team managed to stay in relegation . However, the Canadian's contract was not renewed, after which he returned to North America. There he was selected in the summer of 2016 in the draft of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey, subject to the Cool FM 103.5 de Saint-Georges . After participating in their training camp, he finally joined the team in September before receiving a trial contract with the St. John's IceCaps from the AHL in November . In January 2017, the trial contract was finally extended to include an engagement until the end of the season.
In the summer of 2017, the French-Canadian moved again to Europe, where he joined the Austrian club EC Red Bull Salzburg . After the season, Brouillette ended his active career at the age of 31.
