Kalla Wefel (born Karl-Heinz Wefel in Osnabrück on October 9, 1951 ) is a German cabaret artist , author and musician .

Live and act

Kalla Wefel studied German , sports and philosophy .

In 1974 Wefel founded the Hamburg political rock band Oktober , with which he released four albums. The third album was created together with the Austrian folk rock band Butterflies . 1980 October disbanded. In 1982 he founded after a brief stay in Canada , the new-wave band clinch and published in the same year the LP feeling alarm and the single outcoupling Hello, Father! .

Wefel worked as a taxi driver for a long time . These experiences culminated in his first book publication in 1987 with the taxi driver biography Are you free? published by Metta-Kinau. He had other book publications at Geest-Verlag and Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf Verlag, and in the 1990s as a translator from English of eleven titles each by Tom Holt and James White ( Orbit Hospital ) and one title by Kathryn Harvey alias Barbara Wood . He published self-publications with Books on Demand and under the label “VIH Verlag Internationaler Heimatabend”. Wefel also published articles for Tempo magazine as a journalist .

Together with Claus Dethleff, he founded the Kabarattduo Spvg.Turn & Taxis in 1989 . Are you free with the programs ? and someone got on? the duo toured German-speaking countries until 1996. In 1997 Wefel's first solo program Always stay relaxed premiered at the Theater am Küchengarten in Hanover , which was followed by numerous other solo programs. Since 2012, Wefel has appeared on special occasions with the guitarist and singer of the Blues Company , Todor “Toscho” Todorovic, in the satirical rock / pop revue “Known from radio and television!”.

Since 2006, Wefel has organized the Osnabrück Heimatabend several times a year in the Osnabrück Kulturzentrum Lagerhalle . He discusses city-specific issues with politicians , athletes , scientists and other guests. Guests included the Lord Mayor Wolfgang Griesert , the Lower Saxony Interior Minister Boris Pistorius , the Secretary General of the Federal Environment Foundation Fritz Brickwedde and (former) active members of the Vfl Osnabrück . These include Ansgar Brinkmann , Stefan Wessels , Thomas Reichenberger , Dr. Dirk Rasch, Prof. Dr. Christian Kröger, Dr. Hermann Queckenstedt and Manager Lothar Gans . Helmut Niekamp and Wilfried Witte from Medium Terzett and the multiple dance world champion Michael Hull were also among the guests. Under the motto “Osnabrücker Heimatabend presents…”, CDs and books were also published as self-publications under the label “VIH Verlag Internationaler Heimatabend” under Wefel's direction .

In 2013 he ran as a non-party member for the office of Lord Mayor of Osnabrück. With the slogan Only the future is certain! , the title of his cabaret program at the time, Wefel achieved 2,153 votes (2.5%) despite a "0-cent election campaign" and was thus able to place himself ahead of the FDP candidate (2.2%).

Kalla Wefel has lived in Osnabrück again since 2002.
