From 1661 to 1691 the manor of Vichtenstein with Vichtenstein Castle was under the administration of the Burgrave of the Diocese of Passau Georg Franz Ebenhoch von Hocheneben . In 1782 the regional court district of Vichtenstein was ceded to the Austrian Empire. It was incorporated into the church in the diocese of Linz . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly under Bavarian administration, the place has belonged again to Upper Austria since 1816 .
