Kempfhof is a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Würenlos in the canton of Aargau . Until 1900 Kempfhof was an independent municipality. The hamlet is located in the Furttal between Otelfingen and Würenlos. The place name is derived from a farmer named Kempf, who lived there in the 15th century on a fiefdom of the St. Blasien monastery in the Black Forest.

history

At first Kempfhof consisted of just one farm, which then developed into a hamlet. For the year 1536 three courtyards are occupied. After the conquest of Aargau by the Confederates in 1415, the Kempfhof became part of the Wettingen office in the county of Baden , a common rule . From 1421 the landlord and owner of the lower jurisdiction was the Wettingen monastery . Due to the proximity to Zurich , the Reformation gained a foothold here in the 16th century and Kempfhof was on equal terms, as was Würenlos, to whose parish Kempfhof belonged. With the French invasion of Switzerland and the beginning of the Helvetic Republic in 1798, the Wettingen office was dissolved and the old ruling structures abolished. Kempfhof was initially part of the municipality of Würenlos and, with the foundation of the canton of Aargau in 1803, became a separate municipality. In 1896 the school community Kempfhof was merged with the school communities of Oetlikon and Würenlos. In 1900 the cantonal government ordered the merger of the community with Würenlos.
