Weingarten is a district of the village of Weingarten- Kalthäusern in the municipality of Lommis in the Münchwilen district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland and is located in the Lauchetal on the southern slope of the Immenberg . Weingarten was from 1803 to 1994 a local parish of the municipality of Lommis. On January 1, 1995 , the local parish merged to form the political municipality of Lommis.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1270 as Wingarten . In the Middle Ages, Weingarten belonged to the Spiegelberg dominion , which was a fief of the Constance Cathedral Monastery until 1639 and was owned by the Fischingen Monastery from 1629 to 1798 . In 1270, Count Friedrich von Toggenburg waived a hat in favor of the Rüti monastery . According to Lommis, Weingarten was always part of the church. Until 1798 Weingarten owned a village meier , whose office was alternately held every year by a Catholic or a Reformed.
Weingarten farming, fruit and viticulture, wine and fruit trade was well up to the amelioration 1,918 peat operated. The transition to cattle and dairy farming took place in the second half of the 19th century. By 1920 the viticulture disappeared completely because of phylloxera . From 1910 to 1929 there was a ship embroidery in Weingarten. Although single-family houses were built on Immenberg from 1970 onwards, the place retained its rural character.

Weingarten-Kalthäusern had 406 inhabitants in 2018. Of these, 19 or 4.7% were foreign nationals. 172 (42.4%) were Protestant Reformed and 99 (24.4%) were Roman Catholic.
