Wiezikon , officially Wiezikon bei Sirnach , is located southwest of Sirnach and is a town in the municipality of Sirnach in the Swiss canton of Thurgau .
Wiezikon with the hamlets of Rütibach and Weiherhof formed a local parish of the Sirnach municipality from 1812 to 1996 . Wiezikon has been part of the Sirnach municipality since 1997 .
history
The settlement was first mentioned as Wiecinchon in 1060/70 . Wiezikon was part of the Tannegg Office , which belonged to the Konstanz Monastery from the late Middle Ages until 1693 , and then to the Fischingen Monastery until 1798 . 1432 the village received an opening , in 1569 an indent letter. The majority Reformed Wiezikon ecclesiastically shared the fate of Sirnach.
A winter school was founded in 1801 and a summer school in 1812. Since 1840 there has been a comprehensive school with Horben and Hurnen. Work offered arable and fruit growing, from around 1850 also dairy farming and the Brühwiler Fensterholz AG founded in 1990. From 1882 to 1931 there were eleven embroideries . At the Mooswanger Weiher, peat was extracted during the two world wars . From 1962 to 1977 the village carried out a property improvement . In 1970, the construction of single-family houses saw strong growth.

The village of Wiezikon near Sirnach had 713 inhabitants in 2018. 101 of them belonged to the Fischingen community south of the village center . Of the 612 residents belonging to the municipality of Sirnach, 38 or 6.2% were foreign nationals. 241 (39.4%) were Roman Catholic and 186 (30.4%) Protestant Reformed.
