Hofen bei Sirnach was a local community in the canton of Thurgau (Switzerland), which existed from 1803 to 1871 and was assigned to the municipality of Sirnach . Hofen is to the left of the Murg and has now grown together with Sirnach, which is on the other bank of the Murg .

history

Lindenstrasse in Hofen. The former local community is now a residential area of the industrial Sirnach.

Hofen was first mentioned in 1244 as Hovin in 1448 . Hofen was in the so-called High Courts on the Tuttwilerberg , where from the late Middle Ages until 1798 the federal bailiff or the bailiff appointed by him held the high and lower courts . Ecclesiastically, Hofen shared the fate of the Sirnach parish .

In 1803 Hofen became a local community, which in 1812 was united with the neighboring local community of Holzmannshaus ; Goods and administration remained separate, however. In 1871 the Holzmannshaus community was abolished. Hofen himself came to the local community Sirnach, Holzmannshaus to the local community Oberhofen , which was merged with Münchwilen in 1950 . The district of Hofen had 103 inhabitants in 1888.
