To 1263 were the Kyburgs, from 1265 the Habsburg Kastvögte . The latter alienated Aawangen the pen: 1340 took place the investiture of Hohenlandsberg . In 1520 and 1522 respectively, Kreuzlingen regained its old bailiwick rights . Until 1798 the lower court of Aawangen was administered by bailiffs.
The parish of the Church of St. Michael - originally an own church of the Barons von Murkart - emerged in the 12th century from the pastoration of Kreuzlingen. The incorporation took place in 1280 . This remained a collator even after the Reformation from 1529 to 1848 . In 1910 there was a personal union and then in 1967 it was united with the Protestant parish of Aadorf. In 1974 the Thurgau-Zurich canton border became the border of the parish and Hagenbuch was assigned to the Reformed parish of Elgg .
In the 19th century industry settled. In 1858 a paper factory and later a spinning mill , from 1865 to 1921 a wadding factory and a thread washer.
